Question *smh* yet again...

took Roxy to another park today for a walk..more trails..more new stuff to see and smell.

this pup walks like a pro out on the trails. Some lady was walking by and admired her..also said she has an 11 year old GSD and gave me some great tips...also inquired about where we got Roxy and that she might look into our breeder..I told her the lady has 3 left.

yeah...ok so ..not sure this is a question..but I'll form it as such

does anybody else have a dog that goes out and performs on a path and trail and doesn't want the treat he/she's offered? I take a cheap tool pouch full of all the necessary dog walking items and 1 side is full of treats. she was doing such a great job at heel/ sit on command that I kept trying to give her treats and she kept declining them..though kept looking at me and focusing and accepting praise as thank you.

should I just not even take the treats? I don't even use the clicker much anymore..that got her started with basic commands but she stopped even looking for it. I can give her a command and into it she goes. Which I was really enjoying the clicker but I guess if we don't need it we don't need it???

Some pups/adults will not accept treats outside of the house. Cant say why, just works like that sometimes. I know if they're anxious or fearful, they'll sometimes deny a treat but that's not always the case. Sounds like your pup just enjoys the praise and knowing she's doing good.

I guess I will just be thankful she's progressing as quickly as she is..and take the treats and when she wants one say ok and if not just give her an extra pat on the head.

Mine is not keen on treats when we're out and about, often it's because he's too busy with everything that goes on around.

Some dogs also won't eat because they are very overwhelmed with whats going on "outside"
