playing fetch

I have a 9 week old gsd and it doesn't seem like he likes to play fetch. Every time I throw it he doesn't seem to care and when he does feel like playing he keeps the ball/toy/Frisbee to himself and gets mad when I try to throw it again and he just turns the other way. What do I do??

Play this game in the hallway first. It takes a little time to build that.

What if he doesn't care to bring it back he just wants to keep it for himself and growls when I try to take it back and he only listens to me when I have food don't want to feed him too many treats

Did you read the game? You have two of them. Ever read the aesops fable about the dog with the bone who saw his reflection in the water?

Emma was the same way at first. I started out just rolling the ball on the kitchen floor (vinyl). I rewarded the chase and retrieve, especially if she brought it back. She even plays the roll and chase game bouncing the ball off the walls and cabinets by herself now. I also worked on the give separately, by trading toys for treats, or other toys.

Hope this helps
