The Young GSD and the Fox!

It was dark. Up on the hill there stood a low figure motionlessly watching. The Golden Retriever Lucky saw it first, "Bark, bark, bark!" he yelled.
The creature wasn't afraid! The young GSD also saw it, "Bark, bark, bark!" Rügen yelled.
The animal was a Fox!!! He was a cunning one for sure. He stood still atop of the ridge as the dogs ran back and forth along the fence line, "Bark, bark, bark!"
The humans called to the dogs, "Come inside!"
Inside they went without protest. But something wasn't right... Rügen, a GSD pup, barely 8.5 months old, wasn't going to let that fox out of his sight! He sat at the window, "Bark, bark, bark!!!"
For 10 long minutes Rügen yelled at the fox through the window, "Bark, bark, bark!" The humans tried to make him stop, but he insisted, "Bark, bark, bark!"
The fox was still visible on the hill. The cat... where was the cat?!?
If only Rügen could talk!!! "Bark, bark, bark!" is all the stupid humans could hear! "On the patio, directly outside the window, QUICK get the cat!"
Finally the lazy human stood up and saw what Rügen needed her to see and what the fox surly did, it was the cat, Mr. Monk! The human went and swooped up the cat in her arms. He was safe now.
The little GSD, sighed with relief and curled up by the fireplace. Not another bark was uttered.

All was well.

Re: The Young GSD and the Fox!

The cat also has a protective GSD spit layer at all times, it's a "must have" fashion his fall.

Nice post. Good Boy Rugen. Just a reminder that we need to listen to our smart dogs.

That was a great story, loved it! We have foxes here they stalk all the cats in our neighborhood, lots of cats go missing. Rugen did an awesome job of alerting the humans to the situation!

Good little boy, Rugen. You need to keep track of the cat, never know what those creatures will do!

Re: The Young GSD and the Fox!

Thanks

I've been considering not letting the cat out anymore for some time. He usually stays in the yard, rolls in the dirt and sleeps on the patio in the sun, he's neutered so there's nothing else to do! But after this... Sadly for him, I think his moments of leisure outdoors are over... He dashes out, so it's going to be difficult.

Rugen is so funny. He's constantly trying to wrestle with the cat! I guess after this I can put to rest my fear that he secretly wants to eat him...

He has seen deer before on the hill, which he just quietly watches, but this was the first time he has seen a fox. I thought he just wanted to go back outside to get it! Shows what I know, LOL! The very instant I brought the cat in he was off duty, like someone flipped a switch! It was incredible, and a lot more peaceful! I love GSDs

BTW- Lucky was passed out inside by the fire through all of this! He's like, "What cat? Our cat? Ugh, he's fine, why don't you stop barking and go to sleep!"

I had a dog who wouldn't let the cat be outside alone. I could always find Romeo outside becuase Rex was always right there.
