Question on SV Conformation Shows
How much handling does a judge normally do on dogs in an SV style show ring (USCA or GSDCA)? Mishka currently is attending AKC conformation classes, but will not actually be showing with AKC as I think AKC labels long coat GSDs as faulty, so she will more likely show in SV shows.
In AKC conformation class, the dogs are trained to tolerate being pet all over. I showed a dog once in an SV style ring a couple of years ago and I don't remember her being pet at all while inside the ring. They checked her teeth, her ear tattoo, and measured her, but I don't remember the judge actually petting her sides and back and all. But I don't know what the norm is in these shows as I have only attended one SV style show.
My question, do the judges in SV shows handle/pet the dogs extensively as in AKC shows or not as much?
