I would get those X-rays redone. They are very poorly done and positioning can make hips look *much* worse than they are!

FHO was performed on our two year old female Black and Red. WOW! She was not in pain on the second day and recovered in few months. You would never know it to look at her.

You don't need to redo the xray. that one side has no hip socket and the other is pretty shallow. New Xrays won't change that.

Alot of people have great success with the FHO's.

One is bad, the other is total sublexation. Xrays will not make them better.
My first GSD had two FHO on both her hips. She was a year old. Did one, then the second one about 12 weeks later. Did lots of range of motion exercises the day after surgery and continued about 7 0r 8 times a day until she was putting full weight on it. Lots and lots of swimming and walks. As soon as first one healed up, we did second one.
She did search and rescue for over 9 years after her surgeries.

At least a few have suggested an FHO, but you could also look into a surgery called a TPO. It can only be done in younger dogs (not sure how old your pup is) but the dogs I have seen have it done recover remarkably quickly (wanting to play within about 48 hours of basically have their pelvis cut into three sections and then plated back together).
