Really really new to SAR

Hi,

I live in Indiana and want to learn more about getting my Lab Shepherd mix on track to become registered in SAR. I recently got registered in CERT Community Emergency Response Team and I want to get my 10 month old pup involved as well. Can someone help paint a picture of what I should do to get him engaged with helping SAR?

Ironically, the handler requires more work (usually) then the dog, at least at first. Definitely locate SAR teams in your area, get your cpr/first aid and begin studying scent and how it works. GPS, map and compass, crime scene, NIIMS, etc are just a few things that need to be learned.. But good luck in your search
