All New! By Popular Demand! Raff Training Pics & Video!

Here is the latest from Raff. Our club hasn't met in a few weeks, so these were taken with our wonderful trainer. You will note that I cleverly left out any obedience or tracking pics. We won't imortalize mommy 's struggles.

Raff is a great obedience dog but we're at the stage now in which he has to do obedience while he's fully in drive for tracking and protection. We're working through that in baby steps.

Today's focus in protection was bite development. He has an excellent hard bite, but he needs to bite a bit deeper.

Thank you. We're really working on his bite. He's very calm in the bite and he bites hard, but he's getting shallow. Dad's been play tug with him and letting him win just for grabbing it.

So we had to go backwards a little. I'd also like to see more fight. He's a bit too calm.

How old is he?

Is "Dad" and experienced decoy? Worked lots of dogs?

I have found that my dogs will not bite me the same way that they bite someone else.

Never let the dog win just for "grabbing it." The dog only gets the tug for full hard bites, nothing else. You will wind up with a lazy dog that has learned it doesn't have to bite full and hard to win. He is also not going to fight "Dad." At your dogs age, calm is ok.
