All New Raff Training Video!

Raff had a stellar day with our trainer on Thursday--pics are posted upthread, including one of him in midair. His obedience was beautiful, as usual with his keen focus and amazing eye contact.

Unfortunately, on Friday, Raff became a teenager.

Engagement with the rest of the world is now much more interesting than engaging with mommy. He has chosen not to. His food drive is extreme, fortunately. So tracking is still on his to do list. He loves protection because, heck, that's just plain fun.

But obedience, no thank you.

So, we're back to square one for the moment with Raff's obedience. Back to playing puppy engagement games for awhile.

He's teething, so that limits what he can do in bite work. Lucky for me, he is the least mouthy puppy. He doesn't chew on us and he's not at all destructive. A couple of additional myths about WLs that need to die.

Le sigh.

Good job. Just remember to let him grow up He hasn't even gotten close to his teenage phase yet. Keep it light and fun for now. Most importantly, let him be a puppy and explore. Let him grow up. Have I mentioned letting him grow up yet? Lol

What do you train obedience with usually. Toys, food, or both.
At some point Athena kind of lost interest in food and only wanted to train with tugs. So that is what we done. Then she started showing interest in food again so we're able to use that also. I just make sure I don't burn her out with either. I also started looking for signs my dogs are getting bored. If I notice they're getting bored I give them a day or two off and just focus on loose leash walks and different stuff then come back to it in a day or so.
