Can you Evaluate to early?

I am going to get and evaluation today from a schutzhund trainer that has been successful and has a lot of experience. I am going to meet him at the club I plan to join ( weather permitting) (fingers crossed!) But I was just curious as to what you can tell with a pup so early? I do value his opinion and greatly appreciate his offer to help. What if he says that Kaid is not the dog that I need? I let a friend of mine (who is also doing schutzhund for the first time but with a 15 month old ) do a rough evaluation of him about 2 weeks ago and she thinks that he is going to do well (maybe I worry to much) But I am anxious as to what an experienced trainer will see in my pup. Do I get a second opinion? If he does find faults in my young boy are unwanted traits correctable at a young age?

No matter what, keep in mind that it's ONE OPINION.

Re: Can you Evaluate to early?

No dog is perfect, so I think these "evaluations" are less about a pass/fail as far as SchH potential and more about an experienced person giving their opinion on the dog's evident strengths and weaknesses, and how that will shape how the dog is trained. 14 weeks is just a baby, so a lot can change. I am very very new to SchH but have already seen a dog get put away for a few months and come back out a much better prospect, and likewise have seen a dog that looked good as a wee pup start to wash out, or show some temperament issues at maturity.
