When is the right time.

I have a 3 1/2 month old German Shepherd puppy with schutzhund parents. At what age would be optimal to start tracking exercises?

Re: When is the right time.

Now. They're never too young to start tracking, but it's VERY important that you do it right so if you've not taught tracking before make sure to get some good guidance in that area. First lessons learned are learned the strongest and mistakes made in foundation training can haunt forever!

Re: When is the right time.

I learned some different methods from the boxer club (One tip is when you start to walk straight legs you do not have to walk forward while you lay the bait but you can walk backwards. Even over here in Germany there are as many methods as there are trainers! It can get confuseing as heck.

4 month old boxer bella, Me in the tan vest and the training director in the green.
