Great thread and I agree, the eyes of these dogs - confidence and fear reduction/absence is heartwarming. Great job, rescuers!!!!!!!!

That will take a bit of time to put together, but I'll try.

I just went back to look at all of them again, and saw little Markie. Missed him first time. That bite wound looks horrible. Did he get bitten at the shelter? He's really cute. Does he have his own thread, can't remember.
Donna, you especially have to post before and after of Duke. I remember all those poor dogs in Binghamton. I didn't get to meet Duke as you had already rescued him when I got there, but they all broke my heart. So I really feel a connection to him.

Markie had been included in the MAS survivor's thread. He was extremely scared, sick and shy when he came here - obviously not anymore - lol. I don't know where he got the bite from, when his temp foster in NJ had him, she thought he had got stung by a bug. When we got him to the vet that night and they went to check it, it had absessed and popped. The vet shaved the area and Sam (my daughter) hot packed it several times a day and lots of Neosporin. Now you'd never know it had happened, but it was really gross in the beginning.

Dogs leave pawprints on your heart . . clothes, car, floor, sofa, windows, guests . .

Re: Before and After: Rescue Dogs

Bumping this thread but also adding to it.

I found an early Rafi picture on the website of the rescue that courtesy posted him. His skin on his legs is black, you can see his ribs, his lips are infected, his tail is down and his eyes look dead:

And last month, from the same side:

This is Hannah, as listed in the Urgent section in May, a little over a year ago in a shelter in Laporte, Texas.

In a hotel in Laporte the day after picking her up.

An LittleOne on June 7th, one year later.

I just started scrolling through the "Before and After Pictures". Only got through a few pages before I had to stop for a while. Some of the "Before pictures were heartbreaking and the "After" pictures made me cry for different reasons. I am a soppy mess.

I love this thread! I adopted our Luna 1 1/2 yrs ago and she is such a love! Sweet, loyal, protective, but kind. Everything I love about the breed. I'm not great with posting pictures, but I'll give it a try....Last shot she is with her little sister Ivy...

Here's one to show the potential these dogs have to excel.

Here's Sam, the day he was seized by authorities, wearing a logging chain so heavy he could hardly lift his head:

He then spent 6 long months in a rural public shelter as "evidence." We asked to get him out of there many times. Every time we were there pulling another dog, we asked to bail him out too...but the answer was always no. Finally, one day a call came from the shelter director: "Come get him today."

This is the same dog, after his fantastic adopter started him in IPO:
