[ QUOTE ]

Have you tried feeding him RAW? Older dogs can improve a lot when fed RAW, plus, it might help with hi appetite!

[/ QUOTE ]

We don't have a choice on what he eats...he has to eat kangaroo meat, unfortunately.

Kerry, when my girl was battling DM and was steadily losing weight, our vet suggested we try some baby food. I know Bravo has a specific diet, but if you spoon some baby food on it, maybe it will stimulate his appetite?

I know what could help: putting some of those special scents in Bravo's food. I bet he would be interested in that. Hugs and kisses for Bravo from the Baltimore crew, especially Jesse who has DM too.

It's a good suggestion but the baby food would have to be made of kangaroo meat. Bravo gets what looks like parvo when he eats anything different. It is horrible. I am using Nutri-Cal on him to up his calorie intake. It is a fight to get the stuff down him though. He hates it!

Beef is his worst allergy. He can't even chew on rawhide without getting really sick.
Organic vegetarian treats are ok and he can eat one or two of the Natural Balance duck/potato treats a day. That's about it for treats he can handle.

Just sending to Bravo - so sad to think of him growing more frail. You have been so good for him and we have all really enjoyed his stories and pictures.

He certainly has all his smarts still - sounds like he did a great job of training you to retrieve!
