How we got our girl

Our newest Shepherd we rescued , My husband worked with a lady who wanted to re-home her shepherd because it tried to protect her from the horse she was riding on one day. Come to find out this poor girl had four owners in the two years of her life. This woman failed to mention until she dropped her off at our house is that the horse stepped on her paw. She wrapped it and let it rot, she refused to take her to the vet. We rushed her to the vet they did everything short of amputating a toe, it was infected etc. A bit to graphic to say. Then we found out she wouldnt let this girl in her house, she kept her pinned in a moldy horse stall at all times pretty much. So we got her home, nursed her to health and then to find out she was pregnant. This woman kept trying to breed her for money.

Now she gave birth a few days ago and her anxiety I fear is getting the best of her. She has attacked our oldest female a few weeks ago, but gets along fine with the males. And took days to get her to act like a mom, even after losing two beautiful pups that were too good for this world.

Now she keeps wandering around the house away from the pups, whines at the pups and tries to carry off the smaller of the two. So we have to force her to do everything, but she does check on them constantly and cleans them like she should, just the rest she sucks at. Now just praying these two make it.

You are a saint. Thank you for taking care of her and giving her a new home.

What do the pups look like?

Thank you for helping this girl and for giving her pups a chance. I saw your other thread but I have no advice . While there are people who should not be allowed to have a dog thank god there are people like you who do all they can to help dogs who are in need.

that poor girl But SO GLAD you took her!!!

She may have 'attacked' your other female because of pregnancy , but sometimes females just don't like each other to begin with.

I'm sure you'll do right by her and the babies,,we want PICTURES!!!

Feeling Pretty defeated right now

Well our rescue girl is a good girl, very affectionate but not a great mom and the aggression has increased to the point I have been bit, my husband has been bit, our oldest dog has been injured and there is no sign of stopping so.. I feel its time to rehome her to a place she can be top dog and get all the affection she deserves but Im so depressed because I dont want to, I feel like im giving up on her. But worrying about her and waiting for her to go after my poor old dog when shes in her minding her own buisness in her crate is too much stress for me to handle...

Here are pic's of the pups. http://s1097.photobucket.com/user/so...s/library/Pups
