Cody 11 1/2 adopted! Wahoooo!
VGSR took in an 11 year old GSD named Cody, who had to be treated for heartworms before he could be adopted.
He got adopted last week, at age 11 1/2 by a wonderful couple down in the Richmond area.
Cody was one of the nicest, and tallest, GSDs and I have ever met. I wanted to adopt him so much it was killing me, but because of my foster, Bob (blind and HATES male dogs with a passion), I could not.
Cody might be an old guy, but he looks, and acts, like a youngster. People would routinely guess his age at about 3 or 4. He is black and silver so you really could not see any gray on his face or muzzle. He would just lean into you so that you could have lots of body contact while you were petting him. He would be the perfect therapy dog.
I am so happy for this dog I could just do backflips. I had a long conversation with the folks who adopted him and they could not possibly be nicer folks.
The moral to this story is that the old dogs deserve a chance too. I am very proud of the fact that VGSR quite often takes in older dogs, or dogs with medical issues. We are very fortunate to be in the position to be able to do this, and are so grateful to the folks who provide ongoing financial support to us.
Hip Hip Hooray for Cody!
