What a great thread! Thank you Jean, your choice of topic is inspired, it's wonderful to be reminded of all these great dogs.....and the people who saved them.

Here is the thread regarding the sable female with eight puppies - I found it

https://www.germanshepherds.com/forum...ts-1-20-a.html

The mother's shelter name was Madeline and she was pulled from a shelter in North Carolina. Once she was in foster care, the foster mom changed her name to Nadia. The first photos are on page 13 and the shelter photo of momma and eight babies on the concrete floor is still there with the photos taken during the rescue and once at home in the foster home.

Max - rescued GSD - Dec 22, 2010 to March 7, 2012 - at the bridge
Sable - rescued GSD - at the bridge

Nice thread, Jean!

There was one more, the feral mom that was unable to be handled at all....a beautiful bi-color(camera shy, too).
The foster ended up keeping her, but hasn't been on the board to update in over a year.

Great thread! Thanks for getting the links to these stories.
There was also a thread with the MAS (Memphis shelter) dogs.

Bumping this thread.

And added another great save, Fiona. I'll never forget the photo of her on the pound's website. It's on top of the second thread. Samba saved her and brought the beautiful but terribly neglected Fiona back to health. At the end of the third thread her health was going well! Thank you again, Samba.

I want to add my dear old Dorothy -- one of my favorite fosters of all time -- to this thread.

https://www.germanshepherds.com/forum...ster-care.html

This ancient, one-eyed, epileptic old dog was adopted by a family that adores her. She's got a beagle best friend that she snuggles with and dotes on, a human mom that spoils her in the best way possible, and she gets to sleep on any bed or sofa in the house. She LOVES her people and her other canine friends in the house.

Here is the dog-friendly old sweetheart that a shelter wrongly wanted to label "dog aggressive" getting her face washed by my blind dog. This picture of two visually impaired dogs always tugs at my heart:
