UFO backyard Blob what is it???

Can anyone tell me what this is? It's not sticky, no smell. Does not melt, keeps it's shape when I brought it into the house. found 4 or 5 blobs like this under one of the cherry trees. It's winter. Trees are dormant. If this is cherry tree sap is it harmful to my pup? I've read that cherry pits contain a poison.

Yes, it does look like Cherry tree sap. I don't know if it's poisonous or not.

Then I've got a problem. Just read that all types of cherry trees contain Cyanide. It's in damaged leaves and bark so I imagine these lumps are toxic too if they're cherry sap.

Thanks for the post.

Yes, looks like sap, gummosis? Not sure about the cyanide in the sap. Any of the branches been broken off or cut this season?

No broken branches etc. It's only in one spot about 1 foot in circumference on the ground. I looked above and see nothing. I've lived here 14 years and never seen this stuff before. Shouldn't it be sticky or thick if it's gummosis? This stuff is just like jello.

I think it may have been under the snow for a while. We got 1.5 feet of snow about a month ago and we just had the big melt the last few days. If that's what it is, the snow may have prevented it from hardening into the gummy form.
