Poops 3+ times a day with raw bones

I noticed whenever my dog eats a lot of meaty bones, she poops 3+ times a day. The poop is usually hard and yellow.

If I use a smaller bone and limit her consumption of the bone, then she poops once a day, twice at most.

How much of a the diet should consist of these raw (somewhat) meaty bones?

I read anywhere from 70% to 10% so I'm curious if it depends on how meaty the bones are?

Normally, I try to feed my 11 month old female around 1/2 kilo of raw meat (usually minced), bit of liver/spleen/kidney, and then a moose bone (about the size of 2 hands) to chew on and eat.

If the poop is hard and she strains too much bone. I can't do metric, but maybe the Canadian folks can help. Search the threads on raw B.a.r.f. Feeding. You giving too much bone.

I use the 85% meat, 10% bone, 5% organ ratio for general guidelines.

There are days Ky gets more meat and less bone, and other days she gets more bone and less meat ... depends on what I haul out of the freezer ...

i pay attention to make sure I "alternate" the more / less meat / bone thing

Some days she gets very little bone ...

You have to play with it a bit (the ratio, not the poop LOL) you'll get it figured it out ...

My pups switched to regular raw diets only after they were over a year old; we tried before that but they fell ill every time.

Thanks. Mine is on a moose meat strike, so I have to switch up the meat to something else -- maybe minced beef or minced lamb.

She seems fine with moose bones though.

Go figure.
