Venison

Hey yall. I do not own a gsd yet. I am still researching. My question is what about feeding my dog raw venison(deer) . It would be cheap since I do a lot of hunting. My dog would be eating venison mainly since well I'll be honest I dont picture buying steak for my pooch lol. All suggestions welcome
Thank you

You need much more variety if you are going to be feeding raw. Much more research must be done to ensure you are feeding a balanced diet.

No reason not to. Venison is a major part of my dogs diets. Just make sure you still use a variety of proteins, balance the bone and organs in.

Well from what I've read it's basically 80-10-10 correct? 80% meat the other 10% organs and bone. Which I can Get all that from deer / squirrel maybe rabbits .

You have to have a variety of proteins. fish, poultry, beef, pork, deer, squirrel, rabbit

The bones needs to be edible. Small bones. Any from squirrel or rabbit. Chicken/duck/turkey necks. Any bone from the chicken or duck if they are butchered young. Avoid turkey legs. They are to tough to digest.

Variety of organ meats - liver, kidney, spleen, pancreas
