Newborn Puppy Question.

So, my female had 2 pups 10 days ago. Pups are big and healthy. Only problem I have experienced is approximately 3 am daily, the female puppy starts crying and yelping very loud. This can go on for an hour or more. At no other time of the day does this occur again. Mom is attentive: cleans and feeds throughout the day. Puppies are growing at the same rate, 10 days old and 4 pounds each. Anyone have ideas for us to resolve this mystery? Thank you in advance.

Is she with the pups during the night as well? I had a foster litter years ago and had to lock her in with the pups when she wasn't interested in feeding them when they were hungry.
When in doubt, I would ask a vet.

I leave the dam with the puppies around the clock. If the dam is in with her, I have no idea, why she would be crying for an hour in the middle of the night. I have no idea.

what are you feeding the mom? Do you switch up things for the evening meal or something that affects the milk production?
I wonder if puppies have colic as a human baby would...
could be gassy cramps that have puppy feeling whiny?
