Poor Doc, more control work.......

More control work with the Bobbsy Twins (Bogie and Bacall) Dad. Poor boy, has to be so well behaved before he gets a bite that he is just ready to explode.

It is working though. Yesterday I was able to get decent ob out of him on the field with my decoy running around. Our goal is competition level ob with a decoy and a sleeve out there. Baby steps with this boy...

No-not yet

Aww, come on, just a little bite....

Finally! A bite, and I'm not taking my eyes off of you!

I like this part!

I outed, doesn't that mean I get to cheat just a little bit?

Fun stuff!

Foiled--caught in the act.

Oh boy, here we go again...........

Re: Poor Doc, more control work.......

Betty, that is just great. You are right it is going to be baby steps. If you try to rush the process you loose and he wins. LOL I can see he likes to win ( oh Mom, PLEASE PLEASE let me just bite). But I see progress. I think it is so neat that you are doing what is best for the dog and not pushing and rushing the process, good for you. In this era of instant gratification it is nice to see people working within the dogs capacity and not pushing.

I think you know what I am trying to say.

Val

Re: Poor Doc, more control work.......

Thanks Val! I know what you are saying because it's something I've worked through personally.

I was comparing this group of pictures with ones from about a month ago and I *think* his body language is a lot more relaxed. I know that generally I can get an out of him now with a second command and a verbal and just touching his collar, almost like a "hey Doc, remember me? The big dummy on the other side of the leash"....LOL

We did the two sleeve exercise with him last week and you should of seen his eyeballs darting from sleeve to sleeve, like where's the trick here, this is just too easy....

We are making progress. I had three clean outs on the first and only command this week AND more importantly I really liked how he settled in on the other field even knowing his decoy was present. And I had a girl in heat and another girl that lived at the field was being bred that day.

We are taking a rally class believe it or not and I think doing an ob venue with no bite work present is really helping him. The lessons are at a kennel so he is becoming very neutral to other dogs, puppies, lots of distractions.

I think we will be able to get the Rally novice on him soon. What a hoot that's going to be!

I really enjoy watching it. I want to do SchH too though and I'm told it would be better to do that first for a while since it is more stylized. I was going to do the FO with Nikon next month for starters but decided against it b/c I have things planned the weekends leading up to the event and need to save money (which means cutting back on entries and gas).

Hey, you're in my state! How cool. I'd love to some day learn more about working GSDs. I used to watch my friend work her Beauceron in French Ring somewhere in Brooksville and it was awesome.

Re: Poor Doc, more control work.......

I THINK it was Brooksville at some woman's house, and some in Plant City/Riverview, too.

The woman in Brooksville had Dutchies. I recall watching a litter of babies shred a towel in five minutes and being blown away! Little land sharks!!! This was at least a decade ago!

I am telling my friend she NEEDS another working dog- she really does. Her Beauce was awesome, so stable and a real looker.
