Finding a fully trained PP dog

Hello,

I am in the market for a fully trained PP dog for my family. I have seen so many different websites and was wondering if anyone has any experience or know of any reputable companies?

The few I have seen that seem decent are

CPI
Harrison K9
Rising S k9

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thank You

Hi Lawrence & Welcome!

PLEASE be careful and don't rush! Some of the dogs on these sites are $85,000.00!!!

There are very knowledgeable people on this blog that can help you, so just be patient.

I believe these are the sites you are looking at?

Thank you all for the responses, I am in Orange County, CA. But it really does not matter where the company is located I could easily fly out and tour their facilities.

I do see how some of these companies sell their dogs in huge ranges from 25,000-100,000.

Momto2GSDs- yes those are the 3 companies I have been looking at. I would love to see if anyone has any actual experience purchasing from any companies.

Is there a reason you need a ready to go GSD trained in protection? Why can you not raise and train one yourself? Are you capable of maintaining training and insurance for the dog? This is not a buy and be done endevour. These dogs need consistent and regular training to maintain skills.

Who will be the dogs primary handler? Will the dog provide perimeter protection, or will they be a family pet as well? Do you have young children? Is your wife/husband on board with the liability and upkeep of a trained PP dog?

What exactly do you need? A dog to bark at intruders? A dog to actively engage and fight an intruder? A dog that can be handled by your children? A dog that can be social with visitors?

Sorry for all the questions. But if you are willing and able to spend the 10's of thousands these "protection dog trainers" ask, then this is what you need to know.

I am not a great trainer, but I can train a dog to be a scary deterrent in the home and on a walk. So be very specific and understand what you want, need and are capable of handling. A true personal protection dog is very powerful and not for a novice owner.

My husband & I just got a dog from Erich Grasso. Amazing dog, our 1st German Shepherd. He is great at finding that perfect match to you & your needs. He is very busy, but does make time to help you if you have any questions or need help, hands on.
