Exclamation Lost On Rescue Transport Birmingham Al 06/28/2014

$500 Reward Leading To Safe Capture Lost German Shep Mix was last seen in Birmingham on June 28 2014 when lost on rescue transport having left The Humane Society of Escambia County before it was due to close. Dogs are known to Travel long distances and he could be ANYWHERE IN AL by now. His name is Roy but likely won't answer to the name after all this time. Some Identifiers are that he's medium size, neutered, and weight at time of loss was 53lbs but probably much skinnier now. Has a black snout, black saddle and brown head and 'was' wearing a blue collar, rabies tag and yellow Microchip tag which may have come off. (Note: This isn't a tracking device chip. It's the chip that has to be scanned by a vet or animal control for the dog's registered info.)

Possibly be Hiding alone or Roaming with another dog (he's friendly with dogs) in the open or in secluded areas in any town or in rural areas. Some lost dogs only come out at Dawn or Dusk when it's quiet. It's very possible that he'd gotten so hungry and has been Wandering around the home of a generous Samaritan and they're feeding him and keeping him safe but unaware that he's gone missing and not a stray but is a lost dog being searched. If you know of anyone, friends or neighbors, that has recently spoken of a similar-looking lost dog or taken one in, please let them know he may be our guy! (Tell everyone about Roy and to visit his facebook page!)

He's an extremely Skittish rescue dog and he's somewhat under-socialized from having fended for himself before first being rescued. Due to the shelter closing and nowhere to go, he was accepted and welcomed into a Home where expertise and training would help him overcome his shyness of humans. Sometimes when trying to lure a lost, timid dog that doesn't come up to people quickly and may cower when approached or doesn't appear friendly, one may think that the dog has been abused - he hasn't been! Dogs can appear like that when they're lost because they're Scared from being alone. He's so Very Sweet but being that he's so Timid & Shy he first needs to gain trust over time. If approached too quickly he may get scared and run away and would make it harder to find him again - please Don't Chase!

Feeding will keep him near and the reward is offered for leading to his safe capture. Take a photo if possible and if he leaves area, make note of travel direction and Call immediately. Please don't hesitate! Everyone will continue to be worried sick until he's sighted and found but with your help there's even more Hope and Faith that this will be a happy reunion for everyone - and hopefully soon! Thank you!!
