The puppy is 1 month old. Is it common thing? Will they eventually turn tan or red?

Do you have a photo? Is the dog already with you? Are you the breeder? Just wondering if he is still with his litter or if he has come home already.

You have a baby that is too young to be away from its dam and litter. In most states it is illegal to sell them this early. It can lead to problems, particularly in dog-dog interaction and bite inhibition. A four week old puppy is barely weened if it is. Actually mine turned four weeks old on Thursday and I just started introducing food on Wednesday. Just started introducing water today. The pup needs its momma. And if the momma died, it needs its littermates.

If the puppy is alone in the world, then you just have to compensate. Sometimes there are orphans, but we should never make an orphan out of a puppy if it is not one.

That coloring, I think is pretty normal. It is hard to be sure with cameras. It might come out as black and tan. And should be a saddle back in markings.

If you can return the puppy to the breeder for another month, that would be ideal. If you can't then don't take it to pet stores. When you go to the vet, do not set the puppy down. It does not have immunity from diseases, it can barely support a fever, and it has to be kept warm, but not dehydrated.

Good luck.

@Sukant just curious are you in the United States or another country? What Selzer stated is true however it is common in other countries for pups to be homed earlier. It's not ideal by any means to remove a pup before 8 weeks if it can be helped. It would be fantastic if the breeder can take your pup back for a few more weeks and then bring him home again at 8 weeks of age. If that isn't an option please hang around. There are many breeders and rescuers here that can help you along the way with you very cute little guy.
Please keep us posted as to how things go and Welcome to the forum!

He could be black and silver but it’s too early to tell. He may turn tan. I agree, he is too young to be away from his mother and littermates. His adult behaviors will depend on interactions now with other puppies in the litter.

Hey, I read the consequences of adopting a puppy this young so returned him to the breeder for another 20 days. It's my first puppy so didn't know about it. I am not from USA and here there's no such rules. Thank you for you message 🙂

So cute. Yeah, I agree with the others....way too early to take it from its mother. Also it's still too early to tell what color. Puppies will go through color changes many times.

We still want pictures when you do bring this little cutie home. Glad you were able to get him back with Mom for a few more weeks.
