Am I Undoing Rasa's Training?

I live with Rasa 24/7 and she follows through all my daily work and play and exercise routines. I give her "free time" with the tennis balls and offer no structure then. I figure it is her fun time and I let her have it her way. I let her bring back the balls and sometimes let her chew it and sometimes tell her to put it down and we race to pick it up. Sometimes I win sometimes she does and she goes nuts with the fun. If I get a bit upset with her "disobedience" all I have to do is turn my back and start to move away and she runs up and puts the ball down at my feet. I never let her make me go after her.
Point is, is this lack of structure spoiling her and will she think she can become dominate?
Another game is that I throw the ball and make a b-line for my outside platform elevator to go up to the office (remember I am in a wheelchair), Rasa has to beat me to the elevator and jump on before it gets too high. If she is too slow she runs up the stairs and comes to the landing where the elevator comes on the second floor and I know she is laughing "I beat you".

So again is this lack of structure going to spoil her?

I think there are times for structure and there are times for PLAY. If, in the middle of all your hullabaloo you can tell Rasa to sit or down and she complies, then I don't think you have to worry. If she knows not to knock you over, you don't have to worry. If in the rest of daily life she clearly respects you, you don't have to worry. She sounds like a great dog and it sounds like you are doing fine.

Re: Am I Undoing Rasa's Training?

i don't see a lack of structure. it sounds like a game you've developed for the two of you. where's the disobedience that you're getting upset with? if i were playing the elevator chase i would deliberately beat my dog to the top sometimes. i would tell my dog to sit and stay. then i would get on the elevator and go close to the landing and then call my dog just so he would have to race to the top landing. it sounds like two fun games you've developed.

i was never one to worry about a dog trying to dominate our situation or our being together. what reason does a dog have to dominate us ? we dog everything for our dogs. we feed them, we bathe them, we give them treats, we call them over to us so we can pet them, we drive them around, etc.

the lack of structure you refer to maybe structure to your dog. it's a game you developed and your dog knows her part. i think through training and bonding you lower the dominance factor which i think isn't much of a factor from the begining. good luck with your dog. in a few months from now if your dog starts to dominate because you listened to my "be easy on the dog and let the dog be a dog and it's ok if the dog wins theory", sorry.

Have you watched this video? Look how there's a mix of crazy fun fun fun (and I'm thinking the joy of the black dog at the start of this is about as 'unstructured' as you'd like to see).
