Using the new bed

Bought a nice new XL bed for Rocky. Now how do I go about getting him to use it. Put some of his favorite stuff on it. He even laid down on it to get his belly rub, but will lay on the floor beside it during the evening.

I had the same problem with my Sting. He didn't like the fake fur side so I turned it over and he will lie down on the cloth side. You may also want to try sitting on it yourself -but just ignore Rocky - pretend to take a nap then just get up and walk away. Also just walk on it - like it is part of the floor. Try not to make a big deal of it, just give him time. If you think it is the bedcover - try putting an old blanket over it to cover it.

It probably isn't full of good smells yet...maybe throw a few dirty t-shirts and socks on it...try some stinky treats too. I've heard that works well for getting a dog adjusted to a new vehicle as well.

my dogs always laid on their new beds. the dog i have now has a bed
in our bedroom. i also stacked 2 rugs and a flat dog bed together
that he lays on. i wonder if training your dog "go to your" will help?
maybe there's a smell or a material he doesn't in the bed.
