needs to mouth every article of clothing I put on---eww.. slobber

OFF!!!!!
i have said this for 15+months with almost no effect. Ben feels the need to smell/mouth/drool on every single cotton-pickin article of clothing i put on .. Obviouslythis is not good with work/dress clothes.

i am thinking that i need to do a positive reinforcement every time he does comply with food or treat but that is time consuming when i need to get dressed. i have done that with this issue but it seems to return --seems he has a very strong need to feel/smell all things....we do treat reinforcements for all other training-

just wanted to know of another possible way.
anybody else have this issue?

I go through that with Gunny wanting to stick his nose in places where it shouldn't be after I've gotten dressed. Nice white smudgy nose marks on my dark plans in embarassing places. I take his favoriate ball and make him sit/stay until I've finished dressing.

Is your dog just overly excited and all over you all the time when you change clothes? Or all the time period when you are in the house?

How are the dog classes coming? This is just another calm and easy training command. I'd use a 'Go Lay Down' and point to my dog's bed. So it's just more stuff to fit into all the other great training you are doing.

that's an idea.
i have a pillow downstairs which is his "place".
now i need to get another pillow or mat that can be his "place" upstairs.

we are always in training mode-been meeting weekly with a k-9 SAR trainer in my town for obedience and trigger work(his dog is used as a trigger and I do LAT with Ben). this is something i taught the trainer.

Ben is high energy which i try to drain in the morning -nighttime he settles down big time.
he is a velcro dog-but he just seems to need to sniff the articles of clothing. i think he is trying to determine where i/we are going by sniffing them.
(pants that i had on yesterday when we went to the park vs shirt i just washed ...and which shoes. but i mean every peice of clothing...
