I know there was a long thread about this one on how to teach heel. Can't seem to find it so i'll start a new one.
How do you have your dog offer the behaviour instead of giving it a repeated heel?.
This is what i've done. If i move one step forward i would have to say heel in order for her to come right next to me. 1 Step sideways and 1 step back. I usually have to guide her with the leash to get her into the position i want her too. I have notice i've been saying heel alot.
To give you an idea what we are learning in training class i found this on youtube and it's very similar to what this girl is doing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTeX1VLFd-A
Also when i have her in a heel sometimes she'll offer a sit and i'll praise her and sometimes she wouldn't that i have to put my hand on her rear so she knows what i want her to do.
I have stopped using the clicker because i don't want to accidentally reward the wrong thing.
