Deal with double barking? Unknown rescue training?

Okay- now when I have both dogs in their crates, one will start barking, then both. Sometimes it's like they are having a contest and sometimes they stop after a few barks each. Lainey is 8 Mo. and Booker (new rescue) is 5 yrs. We've been in and out, together and seperately all day long. I'm upstairs away from them on the computer. I know it's an attention thing as we are only on day two of all of us living together and the rain isn't helping.
Nobody knows how much training Booker has had or by what methods. How do I start? He is 70 pounds and can walk me so I'm thinking of going right to a prong collar from my days with Vegas. Booker knows sit but ignores come, off etc. As he's recovering from pneumonia still, slight cough- he's spending alot of time in crate getting used to everything. Ideas?

Kim (MSPCA Vol.), Lainey (Lainey Express Destiny Ryanhaus) and Beau (formerly Booker GSD/Lab?- Rescue)

As if he were a puppy and knew nothing.
