How young is too young for sheep herding?

My pup is nearing the one year old mark and I found out that an hour away is a sheep herding place that teaches dogs to herd sheep. My pup is a little fearful but has gone through private training very well. She still needs mroe confidence building. I she of a good age to bring her for these lessons ?

When I asked our instructor her min. limit she said she tests dogs starting at 8 weeks. For actual lessons she requires that the dog demonstrate a certain level of obedience but the exact age doesn't really matter.

I have tested dogs as young as 8 weeks, and started training as young as 6 months. But you need a good recall.

Stosh started at about 11 mos but we had to take a while off when he was seriously injured- we started again when he was about 21 mos. He had a good recall and down from a distance- two things you should work on now. He was rather immature but now at 2 1/2 he's starting to get really good. So a year is a good time to start and get the basics down. Good luck, it's so much fun!!
