We have a 4 year old GSD her name is Morena. She keeps getting skin rash from scratching herself raw and we have taken her to the vet at least 6 times in last 2 years for this problem. She is treated with shot for inflammation, antibiotics, medicated shampoo and ointment. Same thing every time. No resolution. Any suggestions?
If you've had the regular vet try and fail to treat this with standard protocols, then it's time to make an appointment with a vet dermatologist. An initial exam might cost another $150 or so, plus whatever testing they want to do, but you will likely finally get to the bottom of it.
What Magwart said above. The itching is a symptom, not the actual problem. You are farther ahead financially and for the comfort of your dog to find the reason for the itching and address that.
