Exclamation 6 Month old sable male losing gaurd hairs!

After boarding him for two nights he started losing gaurd hairs.. Breeder said he was blowing is coat but i found a flea on him.. Does this look normal?

Hmmm. Iíve never seen a 6 month old puppy do that. It looks like a furminator was used on the body, which will tear up the top coat.

I’ve used a furminator on my GSD , that never happened.

there are different models of furminators (old, new, long, short), and not everyone uses them appropriately (too hard, too often, etc)... for as many dogs/owners that have used them successfully, iíve seen just as many dogs have their coats butchered.

this doesnít look related to blowing coat nor fleas. my bet is that the boarding facility attempted to groom him before going home and the furminator could very likely have been the culprit.

Looks like misuse (and over use) of either a furminator, or bad clip job, but it is definitely not caused by fleas or blowing his coat. It’s choppy, and you can see the razor/blade marks on his outer coat.
