Adequan Canine for Canine Hip Dysplasia?

My 8 month old puppy was recently diagnosed with CHD, and we're currently looking at treatment options to prevent arthritis and keep him comfortable and mobile as he grows up.

We're considering using Adequan canine as a preventative measure... he doesn't have osteoarthritis yet (at least not as far as our general practive vet can identify, though a specialist may have been able to identify subtle early signs she didn't see).

Does anyone have any experience with adequan canine for prevention of osteoarthritis?

My German Shepherd had a series of adequan injections after his x rays showed his hips were bad (osteoarthritis etc, around age 5 and a half). Forget the number he got. Saw no side effects except the hip he was injected in was a little tender from the injection. That quickly went away. After the series I never had them done again. I didn't see any improvement. Although at the time Kaos could do everything like run up steps. So it might have slowed down the progression. My vet had said getting the shots helps for the future.....

Kaos recently had stem cell treatment. I believe he got an adequan injection as part of the procedure......

(The edit button seems to have disappeared) Anyway just checked my vet bills. The adequan injection wasn't part of the stem cell therapy. It was given about two weeks before. Kaos was limping bad for no apparent reason. Thinking he hurt himself some how. I brought him in. Had x rays done. At that time he was given the adequan injection. Along with upping his dose of rimadyl. He did improve. After that I decided to get the stem cell done to his hips.....

Depending on what vet sees him. Kaos does also get chiropractic treatment done to him. I would say if you can afford the adequan have it done. Can't hurt. Kaos also gets glucosamine, chondroitin msn and fish oil.....
