Natural Ear infection treatment?

I've read that if you spray Vin and Water in their ears that can help. Is this true.

Zeva's ears are just starting to get red. We've changed foods, went from Puppy to adult, which is all chicken based because the puppy food has Lamb in it and Murphy can tolerate lamb. Trying to get them both on the same food and it is NOT working out well.

The little butthead Murphy seems to do the best on [email protected] food like Puppy Chow but I like the 4Health because it doesn't have the wheat, soy or corn in it. *sigh* I might just have to resign myself to that's what works best for him and forget everything I know about diet and nutrition for dogs. He can't seem to handle high protein, good quality kibble. Gets the pudding poos.

Anyway... is there a home remedy?

It depends on what's causing the problem- vinegar is good for yeast infections and you can use mineral oil with the herb pau d'arco which is a natural antibiotic as an ear drop. If it's mites, you can smother them with a light covering of olive oil or almond oil. Also, giving vitamin C helps reduce inflammation. I used to have a beagle so I'm pretty familiar with ear problems. If it's not mites or yeast, it's got to be the food.

I'm sure it's yeast. She's had them before, and my old girl Lady had chronic yeast infections in her ears.

She HATES me going near her ears... *sigh* I hate this...

I had to use prescription drops on Pink, seemed to be the only thing that killed the yeast effectively. I did make the drops and use vinegar and water as a preventive. I think I hated the ear thing as much as she did.

Our Shep can only eat lamb and rice food. If I put him on something else his ears get red . When he got red last year we started him on zymox it did the trick.

Yeah, we used the Rx last time, but she really hates her ears monkeyed w/ and the tube broke and leaked and turned into a huge, stressful mess for her.
