ARKANSAS 3 Year Law Effective 1/1/10

Updated Rabies Control Act Allows Longer Vaccination Intervals http://www.todaysthv.com/news/local/...=95265&catid=2

"The updated Rabies Control Act has new rules passed by the State Board of Health that allow for a longer interval between rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats. The new rules will become effective January 1, 2010.

If a three-year vaccine is chosen, the pet will be required to be revaccinated three years later."

Re: ARKANSAS 3 Year Law Effective 1/1/10

Okay, so how many vets in Arkansas will still use the vaccine with the 1-year label, which will require annual rabies vaccinations? THAT's what drives me nuts.

Who are our Arkansas folks on the board? I think we have a couple?

We finally got this passed here in Alabama this year. I'm quite excited about it!

I know my vet was hoping that this would pass, so I'm not worried about getting the 3year when Rayden is due next year..

All 50 states have now adopted the 3 year protocol, Rhode Island is the only one left to set a date for theirs to become effective.

Re: ARKANSAS 3 Year Law Effective 1/1/10

Good to know. The newest will be due for her initial rabies shot soon. Then we'll do the one year booster & be good for three! (Actually probably good for life but the law isn't there yet.)

I don't know, but you could call Dr. Scott Marshall, the RI State Veterinarian 401-222-2781 who is head of the Rabies Control Board and ask him.
