Highjacked pages

I am getting so many of my sessions highjacked by some virus or something that it is becoming impossible to enjoy this board!

Is there any solution?

Thank goodness this is happening to someone else who can actually start a thread. Every time I try to post that the stupid redirects are happening worse than before, I GET REDIRECTED. It would be really nice if I could actually read whole threads or start them.

The same thing happens to me if I try to read threads from a mobile device.

I haven't experienced that problem recently, or on this board, but I've had the problem before. Somehow advert malware had corrupted the browser on my android phone. I think it came from a public wifi I used on holiday. After struggling with it for weeks, I solved the problem by formatting the phone and reinstalling the operating system. It's quite an undertaking, so if you think that's beyond you, maybe consult a young relative or a professional.

If the problem is on a pc, it's probably a bit easier.

Usually only get it when trying to view on my phone. I get it more often when visiting PedigreeDatabase on my phone. If those "You've won a free Amazon Giftcard!" things were real, I'd be rich...

Yep this is an ongoing issue...
the pages are "You Won a $1000 Gift Card!" or something along those lines, right?
And the URL in the browser window is a weird one like "giftcard.marketbasket.io." or something?

I looked briefly into it, and it is something that happens when a forum is pulling in ads using a common ad application.
The virus / malware gets randomly loaded in place of the ad which is supposed to load.
Instead of loading an ad, it loads that popup message and redirects you to another webpage. ("Click Here to Claim Your Prize")

I am not a tech person but probably the only ways around it are to:
- not visit on mobile devices
- forum could change its method of serving ads (use a different ad serving application)
- blocking the individual URLs (will go on forever...the URLs keep changing)

I am curious about why it only seems to work on mobile devices...
that may help to figure out what it is...?
Anybody in I.T. out there? :-)

Yeah, Iíve heard repeatedly that itís malware in the ads being used. Iíd love to be able to use my laptop to access this forum, but my login does not work on my laptop. No idea why. It works on my devices.

I'm an IT person

Does the problem only occur on Android devices?

Any errors or does it just re-direct to the Advertiser site?

What URL are you trying to reach when on the phone? Post the website in this thread and I will test on my Android.

@Arathorn II - No, I have an iOS device (unfortunately) and still get redirects. I don't use the internet on my phone much for browsing the forums, but on occasion I'm looking at pedigrees and will get the redirects. If I use my desktop at home, I do not get these redirects. Part of me guesses the malicious redirect creator mainly targets m.website . com sites because the vast majority of people on the internet these days use a mobile device.
