Excuse my Ignorance but...

is this sable? I'm really not sure what the true definition of "sable" is.

That's what I thought but then I kept hearing about an undercoat thing or what not and I'm very confused about what the actual definition of "sable" is. I can tell when one is very obviously sable, but there are some I have looked at and wondered how.

Maybe a patterned sable? Can you post a picture in better light?

Sable means the outer coat has black tips on the hairs. If you're able to get a hair from the outer coat, just examine it and that should tell you .

Here's my patterned sable-you can see that the black saddle is definitely not solid black. Your's looks black and tan in your pic
