I’m flying from RDU to Venice on military orders in late July or early August and plan to use Lufthansa. However, I have a question about Lufthansa so their online website says their highest crate dimensions are 49 x 29 x 33 but it doesn’t state which number is the height and which is the width. I called and chatted using their online app and someone said it is LHW which would be great but another person said LWH lol. The people I’ve spoken with aren’t English speaking so it has been tough trying to figure out.
The Petmate Skykennel Giant that I would have to use for my male is
48" L x 32" W x 35" H
I’ve been told by a few people they’ve used the Giant for their dogs flying that airline, but I just wanted to check with maybe someone who has flown recently with theirs.
My male GSD is huge and thankfully he fit (we tried it out at Petsmart. My female could probably skim by and use an XL)

Also I was wondering if there were any heat restrictions. They said no since the cargo hold is air conditioned and pressurized to the same temp as the cabin, but I want to have confirmation from someone who has flown recently using them.

Any takers?

Lufthansa code-shares (or at least used to) with United out of some US airports. You could buy a ticket from Lufthansa and end up on a United flight, with United rules...so it would be worth ruling out the possibility of code-sharing on the flight you're using.

Lufthansa is our first so will it still be on their planes?

So when it is operated by another airline they don’t abide by the same rules? 🏻 This is making my head spin worse

I would contact United. The Embraer 175 is a smaller plane. Only seats 76 and Probably has limited cargo area. Google the plane models on your itinerary. It will give you a better idea of the limitations to crate size. United should be able to answer your questions without the language barriers. They are United's planes and they should certainly know what size crates fit their planes.

It sounds dumb but be sure that they know you are traveling with 2 dogs. You'd be surprised with online bookings, third party involvement etc how the airline doesn't know what they need to know.

Wishing you the best.

Thanks so much the person above you pointed that out to me.
The only way for me to get on the actual Lufthansa planes I have to drive 8 hours to Atlanta.

That aside could you shed any light on the crate issue?

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking clarification on.

In the original post it explains it better. I guess basically I’m asking if anyone has used a Giant Petmate Skykennel when flying through Lufthansa.
