Muddy paws! Help

We live in the Pittsburgh area and have had a ridiculously wet summer and fall! I have areas in the yard that are basically mud bogs! As it is too late in the season to plant seeds, I was wondering if anyone has a solution for covering until spring comes? My local feed store suggested laying down straw to help. Has anyone tried this?

We've also used straw successfully for the past couple of years.

also if you have a lot of leaves, instead of bagging them, mulch them. That helps a little. Once mine are all mulched I'll have to add something more to cover the entire mud area. If only the moss had grown nice and thick...oh well

We just covered their yard with a 6 inch layer of cedar hog fuel. It's fluffy at first but the rain packs it down nicely. Works great.
I am in the PNW with a lot of cedar products.

I use pine pellets from Tractor Supply. Cheap and very clean.

Me too! I lay it down thick where they do their business and mark and it is easy to clean it up as well as remove and replace especially in the summer.
