sniffing behaviour - autistic person

My dog smells things for a very long time sometimes....she is very good at sniffing in games for finding treats.

I want to train her to sniff out certain things but im not sure if she's that interested....ive tried making it a game but she still loses interest quickly even though there could be a great treat afterwards.....

I am really interested in this topic as well. My pup loves to smell and lick the smells he smells and follow them. It is neat to watch. I don't know what to do with it honestly.....yet. One of the games he loves to play is find the toy. He picks a toy and I put him in a sit stay and hide the toy and he will find it. What I find so interesting is we can be using say a tennis ball, we have many tennis balls, all exactly the same, all played with, he will find the exact tennis ball he chose to play the game with. The games wears him out to.

Maybe if she is losing interest she needs to find the treats more often to keep her engaged in the game?

I hope this thread gets popular.
Good question. Thanks for posting.

There are lots of good threads on this topic in this forum. There are also lots of YouTube videos on how to get started.

What do you want your dog to alert too? Or what odor / scent do you want your dog to find? Be specific and please be specific in your training methods?
