When You Are Injured?

How do you handle your dog's exercise needs when you are sick or injured?

Same here. For 6+ months I have been dealing with back issues/surgery and she is still patient with me.

I've been known to take my dog for a ride in the car when sick or injured. He's had his outing, and had a good sniff, that way.

You are getting soft.

I've got two fingers fingers that are bandaged right now from a Dutch Shepherd hanging off them. For a second, I thought I'd lose a finger or two. Obviously, I am getting softer with age. The Doc in the box, said I need 4 days of light duty. I think he is soft and I do not need any light duty at all.

During training we ask; "Are you hurt or injured?" The real difference is in the paperwork we do and the respect the person gets.

A dog bite is usually not a real big deal. It's not training if someone is not bleeding.

Dogs may be hurt or feel discomfort but drive keeps them going. It really depends on the job and the dog. If the dog is injured, get it to the vet. If the handler is injured, then make arrangements for another handler to work the dog. In our world, hurt is different than injured. If the handler is hurt, he/she should be good to go in a day or two.

I was recently sick and it has lasted most of the summer. All of them have been super patient and letting me heal. I just took a few of them for a walk for the first time a few days ago.
