What other breed(s) do you see in my Bentley?

Hi,

I got my boy, Bentley a couple months back off Craigslist. I know, I didn't rescue.
Anyways, the ad says he was a purebred shepherd. Brought him home, loved him, etc etc. So, no paperwork and I did not get to meet his parents.

But, a couple weeks ago, I was out walking him when a homeless man asked me what kind of breed my dog was. I told him that I was told he was a purebred shepherd. He shook his head and argued with me he was a lab, at least, part.
me Well, I was just told he was a purebred but hey you might be right.
him No, he's part lab. I know it.

So, I want to ask you lovely experts what else you think you might see in my boy While I do believe he may be pure, if not, mostly pure, I have my doubts. His paws aren't as big as most every GSD puppy I see, his ears aren't fully erect and flop at the tips, and mainly size (he is 4 months, 1 week old at barely under 30 lbs). While my heavy googling and searching this forum told me not to worry about these features, since all dogs grow differently, I still do have my doubt every once in a while.

An album of him from puppy to now should be attached.

He looks like he could be a purebred GSD to me. A lot of people aren't aware they come in solid black or that their ears may not come up for a few months, so they assume it's part lab.

Cute puppy! I agree with previous comments, he doesn't have any strong non-GSD characteristics that I can see from the photos. I also have an all black GSD puppy, and I get asked daily what kind of dog she is, get used to it😊

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. Mark Twain

Thanks everyone! This makes me feel a whole lot better. Not that there'd be anything wrong with him being anything else.

Yeah, what Tim said.

Last night's little gem while at the park - "Gorgeous dog, you shouldn't neuter him. You can make a lot of money studding him out if he stays black... " This of course after the usual "Is he part labrador?"

I figured opening a discussion about breeding genetics and the black color being a recessive would have been lost on them. I have no desire to be a puppy pimp.

I, too, get a lot of comments about how it's so cool that my Bentley is all black, "for now." I smile and nod as they talk about how they're only like that when they're puppies.

My favorite is still when the homeless guy asked me what kind of dog Bentley was and then immediately shutting me down for saying he was a GSD, not Lab.
