great story. I love stories like that, except of course, for the loss from the wildfires that the neighbors suffered.

This story if pretty local to me. My town had taken in over 10,000 evacuees from the surrounding areas (many with their pets and horses), at one point.

Maremma sheep dogs are very popular here with people who have livestock. I can see why, I hear nothing but good things about their livestock protecting instincts.
