Rally-obedience title??

Hi everyone! I'm totally new to the german Shepherd/title world. Is there such a thing as a rally-obedience title? Or is that just part of the IPO sport (i know you can get tracking titles so curious if there are any for rally obedience). Google isn't helping me out! Haha

Rally/Obedience is through AKC/CKC, IPO/SCHh is a sport made in specific for the GSD breed, though other breeds are welcome to compete in it.

The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog.

There is also ASCA rally, which allows other breeds, and WCRL (previously APDT) Rally

All lots of fun, slight variations in signs and rules, all titling venues

I would guess WCRL might be the most welcoming and relaxed for a new person to get their feet wet.

Is WCRL in Canada? Haha sorry I'm so clueless! I'm getting a working line GSD puppy in October and I know I'd like to eventually achieve some titles, I absolutely love doing obedience, but rally obedience like you see in IPO is what really interest me. Curious to know if I can get a title in that without doing the protection and tracking part!

Rally-obedience title??

If you're interested in strict obedience, then just do the Utility or Rally title through the CKC or any other affiliated club. The "rally" you're thinking of in IPO is sport specific, and unfortunately no, you cannot title in just the obedience phase of IPO. You can title in tracking, alertness, fitness, or obedience with protection, but as far as I know there is no strict obedience.

The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog.

In Canada there is CKC and CARO (Canadian Association for Rally Obedience) for rally. There really isn't any rally obedience in IPO. They have a different style of obedience but that is just one of three phases of a trial.

I don't honestly know if WCRL is in Canada or not...check the website

rallydogs.com

There is also Cyber Rally, which you can do right at home. I did that before WCRL and actually plan to do more with my older dog, she enjoys any new game I come up with for her to play

I never heard of cyber rally. If I can get a BH on my she-pup this fall, I might swap out OB and try a cyber rally.

Cyber rally is fun. You basically set up your own rally course (choose from courses on the website), and video yourself doing it. I got my nerve up doing that before trying real rally.

You can get ribbons and "titles" and everything. Good for reactive dogs or people with bad ring nerves (me) or people with retired dogs who still want to feel busy and trials are hours and hours away because we live in the middle of nowhere (also me)

I plan to quit rally this fall because I'd like to try my boy in traditional AKC OB and I just can't make time for both.

But we'll see. Rally is fun. People are nice. AKC obedience honestly looks kind of...dry. Stuffy? Snobby? idk. I think we will try it but who knows

Correct! CARO (Canadian Association of Rally-Obedience) is open to all breeds and mixed breeds.

You CAN earn tracking and Obedience titles in IPO individually -

You'll need to join a Schutzhund club, be a member of the GSSCC, and get a BH first. Having that focused heeling foundation on your dog will make Rally-O a breeze.
