Hm. Have you seen that advice here? You might ask the sites that posted that for their thinking. I can't say I've seen that advice here.
I've never practiced that, and I've potty trained a lot of dogs because I foster for rescue. To me, the important thing is to get the smell out with enzyme cleaner, get them in the right place to pee outside, reward/praise, etc.
The only chore I am careful to not let my dogs to see me doing is planting in the garden! They see me dig a hole, put something in it, and well, they think like a canine: "she's buried some food treasure, must see what it is!" Then I come out and find all the flowers dug up, dirt flung everywhere, and my holes "investigated."
