New Grand baby and dogs

So our daughter delivered our first grand baby last Saturday. Today was the first day the dogs have been out with Grand daughter and daughter present. They seemed to do OK. Except wanting to constantly sniff her. I let them all have a sniff then made them back away. But they were still very interested. Any tips or advice. Besides the obvious never leave baby unattended etc...
Pics are after I let them sniff and was sitting with the baby.

Congratulations!!! That is awesome. I'm jealous. I only have grandhorses, so far.

Sounds like you are doing fine with the dogs. Just constantly monitor.

How precious. I can't wait for grandkids. As for the dogs I think it depends on each individual dog. What are the temperaments? Will they argue over baby? I thinking letting them sniff is good. I think that if you keep them away by force that might be a game changer. They need to learn to respect the baby and I think that once the newness wears off they will sniff and walk away. Baby crying? I think that will be a different scenario until they understand the baby is okay. Congratulations!!

Sounds like you're being appropriately safe. I always watch my dog around my nephews, always within reach and tell him to back up when he gets too smothery. Only one minor incident, he was so excited to be at my sisters and play with my almost 3 year old nephew that he pretty much gave him a hug and my nephew fell down, no injuries and he didn't cry, but had he done that on the pavement it may have been much worse! Sometimes dogs can be TOO friendly with kids! :P

congratulations...Our only grandchild was born when Tessa 10 weeks old. We always allowed Tess to smell her, but they were always monitored. Tessa has always stayed close to Cay, laying her head on blankets on the floor if Cay was down there. She would choose even before she was a year old, to sleep beside the crib. Six year later, they are still inseparable, it fills my heart to see them.

Writing about them, reminded me of these old pictures. Had to share them.
