DIY dog tugs?

Hello All! I have spent $$$$$ on various dog chews, tugs, etc., for my dogs, as have many of you. My girl has destroyed nearly all of them in record time. I have been thinking about trying to make some of my own. I ordered a bag of replacement squeakers from amazon.com, and plan to go to the thrift store to get either some old jeans or old tee shirts. I was planning to cut them into strips and braid them together, incorporating a couple of squeakers, which my girl goes crazy over. Any suggestions about whether to use old jeans, or old tee shirts? I cannot sew at all, so I will have to cut strips and braid/knot together. Has anyone tried this? I simply do not have megabucks to keep buying more tugs! I could maybe even use sisal rope, but that might be too scratchy on her lips!

I make my own and sell them as well.

I pick up cheap, end of the roll fleece from the fabric store, cut into strips and do a four strand braid. Quick, easy and most importantly, machine washable.

Sometimes I even braid fur strips into them if. Now that PETA has made it heinous to wear fur coats people will sell them dirt cheap on kijiji.

Yes my daughter made a fleece braided tug about two years ago holds up really nice and looks great creative sellable toy, our pup likes to bring all the toys outside and the braid is one of them. I would take a photo but my photobucket is on the fritz again. It's one of my favorite toys and the dogs to.
