Question Well Dog Smell Question

Our 2.5 yr old GSD smells like wet dog, despite furminator brushings, professional groomings, doggie wipes, etc, and constant cleaning where she sleeps and eats. I can smell her from about 10-12 feet away and it's unbearable at this point. Someone told us about a gland located near the anus that can be squeezed periodically (by a vet, we assume) to stop this smell. Does anyone know anything about this and, if so, how much do vets charge typically for this service?
Thank you!

Sounds more like yeast. Moldy smell/Frito smell.

What are you feeding (Kibble/treats)?

I've only had to get the anal glands drained on dogs that can't reach to lick, so no advice from me there. I don't recall a wet-smell but more of a scared-dog-smell. I will say that I have had twwas forced to switch foods (lost job) and I switched from Solid Gold to Trader Joe's and *phew* STINKY dog! The other time, we were traveling and the suitcase with the food was lost, and we gave him cheap food (different dog) and again- STINKY. Both times, I'd say it was a wet-ish kind of smell. I guess. It was bad but was remedied with good food, both times. Hope that helps!

Anal glands? Just take your dog to the vet. They'll figure out whether it's a skin yeast issue or an anal gland issue.

My vet just charged me $15 on top of the office charge to express Seger's.

We had to do glands twice on our 5 year old...but it wasn't anything I would describe as 'wet dog' smell. It was decidedly fishy.
