Raising a puppy while pregnant

Hi there!

Can someone shed light on raising a German show line gsd at around 12 weeks when we are expecting. My wife is 21 weeks and she likes dogs as well. We will have our parents around when the baby is born.

Has anyone done it before? Does the puppy get hyper around the baby?

I can't give advice on patience with a puppy while being pregnant but this is our experience with having a puppy around an infant on up to 4 years. Our oldest GSD Tessa was 12 weeks old when my granddaughter was born. Although she isn't here full time. We've watched her at least 2 days per week, so they've grown up together. We were just careful and cautious, they weren't left alone together. There were times I would kennel Tess if she was too rowdy, but it wasn't excessive. She has always been fascinated by Cay, laying by her crib, or blanket on the floor. Like everything else in life, the extra work was certainly worth the it.
