Doing Schutzhund (sorta/kinda) with no Schutzhund training

so, my dog gets out of the tub Sunday night.
i take him outside to air dry. i let him in the yard
so he can go. i let him out of the yard and we start
to run up and down the driveway. i tell Loki to heel
and then i point and say "go over there". he runs to
the gate and turns around and stands there. i go to him
and point and say "go over there". now he runs down the
driveway. Monday morning we're in the driveway again.
i do the same thing, point and say "go over there"
again he runs down the driveway. this morning (Tuesday)
i point and say "out" and he runs down the driveway.
Shutzhund trained dogs do "out" on command, yes?
so, if my dog does "out" on command (with no "out"
training) isn't that Schutzhund sorta/kinda??

Not even a good try.

The short answer is "no."

The long answer is:
In Schutzhund:
"Out" or "Aus" means release what you've got in your mouth, between your jaws.

"Out" doesn't usually mean run out. That is Voran or Voraus. Search the blind can be Voraus or Voran or Revere (sp on all of this is probably wacky)

If you are using any old command to get any old behavior ("go over there" and "out") and not rewarding for a particular response (I saw no mention of any reward for the behavior), I don't think you are training anything.

So KillJoy has spoken...

A better "out" than Gryff's! You show them how it's done, LOL.

i thought "out" meant "go over there". to release something in his mouth i say "leave it" or "drop it". for this spare of the moment
training a "good boy" and petting worked just fine. my dog
responds to praise and petting. as far as teaching nothing
i don't know. if i say "out" he runs 20' away and turns and looks
at me and waits for the next command. i considered that something
and it seemed like fun for my dog. your comments aren't taken
lightly because i know how well trained your dog is.

This is a specialized, superior level of Schutzhund that only an infinitesimal percentage of GSDs will ever reach.

maybe not shutzhund, but if you see some agility and obedience trials i think you will see where you can take this. sounds like you are having a lot of fun with your dog.

A lot of dogs will out with no out training.

A Schutzhund dog can do outs, not an outing dog does Schutzhund.
