Warning: Useless Pigment Question

My first 2 shepherds were typical blk and tans with small to medium masks. Tazor seems to be keeping a full mask so far and I wondered....heres the stupid question....Tazor has major blk pigment on the roof of his mouth..Is there any correlation between the pigment and face color?

Ok..you can all look into your dogs mouths and report back. Lol. I was just thinking it may be cool to pick your mask if gour getting a puppy....Oh, and yes, I am sleep deprived and getting loopy. You can all thank Mr. I get up at 4:30 am. Tazor

Rocky, on the right side in my avatar, has black in his mouth. Kopper, on the left, has none.

I don't believe there's any correlation.

HA! Interesting. I want to look in Jackson's mouth now to see. It seems that the puppies with tan on their faces from the get-go seem to have lighter faces as adults. Jackson just had some tan cheeks and eyebrow dots and that's it. He's pretty dark.

Since I was little we were always "told" the darker the roof of the mouth, the meaner the dog is. I don't know if its true, but that is what we grew up thinking

I have been told that having black on the tongue is a sign of good pigmentation in general.

I just checked. My girl has a mask and the inside of her mouth is a solid blackish red. I'm not sure how to describe it.
